easy and inexpensive ways to spruce up areas like laundry rooms
or even kitchens. My laundry room also has a counter in it. We
use it to make coffee in the morning and that area houses our
wine that we sometimes have in the evening. The room is now
called the "Coffee and Wine Bar Launderette".

rounded corners on your pillow covers

"Old White" For a New Look shows the steps that we
used in painting a dresser in Annie Sloan's "Old White"
color chalk paint and adding a dark wax finish.

"A Make Over With Chalk Paint" also uses Annie Sloan paints
but this time layers "Coco" and "Old Ochre" colors on a
hutch that took me a long time to decide whether to paint or not.

While I love using the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, it is a little pricey.
I discovered that I could mix up paint with powdered wall
texture to get a similar look.  In the tutorial "An Easy Distressed
Black Paint Finish"   I share the "recipe" for the home made
chalky paint.  It has held up well for a couple of years now.

When I finally ran out of the big box of wall texture, I tried
making the home made chalky paint with plaster of paris...
that worked well too.  The recipe for that paint is in the post
"Look Beyond The Color".  Sometimes you only want to paint
a small piece with chalky paint...this recipe lets you decide how
small or large a batch of paint you want to mix up plus you
decide exactly what color you want the paint to be

A decorator came to my home to help me get a
more put-together look.  One of the things she
suggested I do was to move around the furniture
in the Master Bedroom.  Her tips might help you
 too in Striving For Symmetry.

Tired of the same artwork over the mantle, I experimented with
texturing a new art print in order to make it resemble an oil painting in Make a "Painting" From a Print.  I liked that one so much that I have also "paintings" of Paris, and Autumn landscape.

Loving the look of Italian chandeliers but not
their price tags, see how I tried to glam up
a simple light fixture in The Chandy Challenge.

"Make a Sweater Pillow In Thirty Minutes" is a tutorial on how to
use your old sweaters (or even thrift store ones) to make pillow
covers that look really cute on your sofa in Winter.

"Fresh Flowers For Your Door" tutorial tells you how to make guests coming to your home feel really special when you use
real flowers on your front door to greet them.
